4. Metronomy – Metronomy Forever

Another leap back into the 80s came with Metronomy’s 5th album. Fresh from having a hand in producing one of the best albums of 2018, Robyn’s Honey, frontman Joseph Mount returned to minimalist beats and trademark humorous lyrics on Metronomy Forever, a more upbeat follow up to 2016’s Summer 08.

A number of little interludes give you plenty of breathing space as you make your way through this 17-track album, which deals with weddings, insecurity, and Mount upsetting his girlfriend.

The album’s high point is the joyous bop of Salted Caramel Ice Cream, which is only made even better when paired with the hilarious video, featuring all of the band members. Wedding Bells and Walking in the Dark also have excellent accompanying videos, although none are a substitute for listening to Metronomy Forever all the way through!
