10 Perfect Albums That Changed Rock History

6. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin

In the eyes of the critics, Led Zeppelin were still not really all that respected in the early '70s. Despite being one of the biggest selling acts around at the time, there was still bits of the music community that thought what they were doing wasn't nearly as original as something like Willie Dixon back in the old days of blues. Little did they know that Zeppelin were about to go on one of the most classic sessions of their career on their fourth record.

Though the album is considered untitled for most Zeppelin fans, Zeppelin IV has some of the most synonymous tracks that the band would ever create as a foursome. Standing at just 8 tracks, every one of these songs show a different side of what the band can do, from the stone age swing of something like Black Dog to eventually having a maypole style trance on the Battle of Evermore.

And at the end of the day, they always bring it back to the blues with one of the most dirgy sounding songs of their career with When the Levee Breaks. Oh yeah, and there's also that one song about heaven or something that seems to have done pretty well. Before this album, Zeppelin were already one of the biggest names in rock music, but afterwards, there was no one in the scene who could touch them.
