10 Perfect Albums That Will Make You Love Hair Metal Music

8. Night Songs - Cinderella

When Cinderella first started to get their feet wet in the world of hair metal, things had started to get more than a little bit ridiculous. Just from looking at this album cover, this feels like you're about to listen to one of the most candified versions of hair metal that would even make Warrant tell you to turn it down a notch. Once you throw this album on though, you're in for a much different experience as the first song starts.

While Cinderella might look like a by the numbers hair metal band, their heart has always been indebted to the rock and roll from ages past, with Tom Keifer channeling both Steven Tyler and Janis Joplin in his vocal delivery. Across most of Night Songs, what you're hearing is hair metal being fed through a more rock and roll lens, with the sentimental ballads like Nobody's Fool being filtered out by the aggression of the title track, which might be one of the best AC/DC songs that the Young brothers never actually got around to making.

It's more than just meat headed rock and roll on here too, with songs like Shake Me having a freewheeling vibe that you might have found on a mid period Rolling Stones track, which would only flourish on the next album Long Cold Winter. It's easy to jump to conclusions with 99% of hair metal bands, but if you throw out every band that looks like they're trying on their best David Bowie impression, you may miss out on one of the bluesiest hair bands to ever grace the stage.
