10 Perfect Alternative Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

5. Screamadelica - Primal Scream (1991)

The sound of the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays dominated the British music scene during the late '80s but by the mid '90s they were replaced by Blur and Oasis. Primal Scream's third album represented the musical bridge during this transitional moment.

This is a record that will elicit a move or two from even the most reluctant of dancers. And, that's no surprise considering it was produced by acid house DJ, Andrew Weatherall. Up until this record, Primal Scream had comfortably existed in the realm of indie rock, but after its release, people didn't know where to place them, musically.

The tracks Movin' on Up and Loaded, both have elements that immediately scream the Rolling Stones, but placed very much in a contemporary dance sound. Then you have numbers like Sleep Inside This House and Don't Fight It Feel It, which are straight up acid house tracks. Higher Than The Sun, again takes on another completely distinct sound, drawing in industrial break beats and synthesiser melodies. The whole experience is a joyous and constantly surprising journey through all manor of genres and themes, tied up into a satisfyingly concise record.
