10 Perfect Alternative Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

2. Definitely Maybe - Oasis (1994)

If you weren't alive during the Brit-pop era and still don't quiet understand the hype, then all you need is this record. It just about sums up the ethos of British '90s rock: unapologetically confident and carefree with plenty of feel good swagger. This was universally accessible rock at its best.

The Oasis boys weren't pulling any punches with this record. Opening up a debut, with Rock 'n' Roll Star, gave you a pretty solid indication that these guys knew they had something going on. And, they did. The track listing reads like a greatest hits album, with: Live Forever, Supersonic and Cigarettes and Alcohol, it was inevitable they were going to hit the big time.

Noel Gallagher has been blatant about lifting ideas from acts like the Beatles and T-Rex but that doesn't take anything away from his talent as a songwriter. You've got your swaggering rock numbers, that pump you full of confidence as you walk down the street - conscious that your slowly adopting a strut. But, there's also the communal sing along numbers, that inspire even the most stoic of geezers to drape and arm around a pal and sway along with the rest.

You don't have to do any heavy lifting with this record, it's just there to be enjoyed.
