10 Perfect Beatles Songs From Their Solo Careers
5. Isn't It a Pity - George Harrison
By the time of the Let It Be sessions, you really had to feel for George Harrison as a songwriter. Here was one of the greatest guitarists in the world who would love to get his ideas out, and the Lennon/McCartney machine isn't giving him the time of day at all. Though they started to see his potential on Abbey Road, George saved all of the really good stuff for when he released his first solo record.
Then again, it's hard not to see something like Isn't It A Pity with the rest of the fallout from the Fab Four. Even though it was written long before the band had broken up, this feels like Harrison writing his own eulogy to his broken friendships, saying how much turmoil they were all going through by letting business get in the way of their music.
If anything, the Beatles really needed George more than ever during the Get Back sessions once you look at the documentary. Since Paul and John didn't have time to write together, this could have been George's opportunity to come through with some great new songs that would blow everyone away and put him on the same level as John and Paul. All we're left with though is songs like these, with that bittersweet feeling that the dream might actually be coming to an end.
