10 Perfect Britpop Albums Of The '90s
2. Definitely Maybe - Oasis
There's a good case to be made as to why Oasis should be number one for all things Britpop. Starting from the word go, the Gallagher Brothers practically broke down the door for the old school of rock and roll to become popular again, along with the working class spirit that everyone needed. And yeah, on Definitely Maybe, you'd be hardpressed to find a more solid track list.
Before becoming one of the biggest acts that Britain had ever seen, Oasis called their shot on this album, mixing influences from punk, rock and roll, and even a few ballads to create their signature sound. You've practically got every single facet of the Britpop movement on here as well, from the bold and brash attitude of Supersonic to the trance like atmosphere towards the end of Columbia and even a few hints at the Sex Pistols style band that they were in the early days on songs like Bring It On Down.
The biggest strength of this record though is just the chemistry between Liam and Noel Gallagher, with Noel writing some of the key tracks that would define our lives in the '90s to his brothers' distinct nasal delivery that wrapped everything together perfectly. There's always a death sentence for every rock scene, but Noel wasn't messing around when he claimed that his music would live forever.
