10 PERFECT Classic Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
7. Joshua Tree - U2
From their debut onward, U2 seemed to be on the cusp of something profound. With albums like War and the Unforgettable Fire racing up the charts, fans were growing all the more curious as to where the band's sonic rollercoaster was heading. When the band entered the studio with Brian Eno in 1987, they walked out with an album that brought rock's past, present, and future into one place.
As soon as you put on the Joshua Tree, you are automatically dropped into a certain sonic headspace as the Edge's cascading guitars on "Where the Streets Have No Name" engulf your senses. From there, the band take you on a journey through the lush pastures of the world, all while making bold indictments of how we are treating ourselves and our fellow man on songs like "In God's Country" and "Bullet the Blue Sky."
Even if you've never heard this band before, songs like "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" have such an immediacy to them that they feel like old relics that these Irish boys just so happened to uncover. Though there are many essential albums in the band's catalog, The Joshua Tree is perhaps the closest U2 has come to pure sonic bliss.
