10 PERFECT Classic Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
6. Back In Black - AC/DC
AC/DC's future seemed wide open when they reached the end of the 70's. After 5 long years of delivering solid hard rock tunes, the band finally were able to capture the mainstream's attention with Highway to Hell, which became a staple of rock radio for years. Then one fateful night, frontman Bon Scott's death from alcohol poisoning left the band's career uncertain.
Rather than sit out the next few years, the band wanted to make a record that would both pay respect to their fallen singer and bounce back from hard times. Armed with new singer Brian Johnson, the band created Back In Black, which may be the most concentrated piece of hard rock to make it onto one disc. Whereas most bands have rock filtered through prog or psychedelia, this record takes all of the great sounding tunes from guys like Chuck Berry and build them up into gargantuan works of rock and roll aggression.
From the opening toll of "Hells Bells" to the unmistakable snarl of the title track, the band nearly made the equivalent of a greatest hits album without even knowing it. Along with giving the band new life, Back In Black was the one record that helped re-energize rock for the next decade.
