10 PERFECT Classic Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
4. Let it Bleed - The Rolling Stones
Out of all the British Invasion bands of the 60's, the Rolling Stones were the only group that truly felt dangerous. Complete with ferocious guitar riffs from Keith Richards and the vocal spit of Mick Jagger, each tune the band put out hinted at something much more sinister below the surface. Once the band settled into their bluesy classic period, Let It Bleed quickly became the band's most authentic display of heartache.
As the first few guitar notes of "Gimme Shelter" creep in, you realize you're in for a different ride from the guys who produced rock anthems like "Satisfaction." The entire record puts the listener in a darker headspace, with songs like "Monkey Man" and "Midnight Rambler" sounding like they came straight out of the Mississippi Delta. At the same time, the band also delivers some of the best slow burners of their career, from their take on Robert Johnson's "Love In Vain" to the borderline operatic romp of "You Can't Always Get What You Want."
Hell, even the one song that features Keith Richards on vocals ("You Got The Silver") is a standout, as the song peels back the layers of rock and roll's most deadly six-stringer. The Stones had already carved their name in rock history, but this album showed that, with almost a decade under their belt, they had only just begun to impress us.
