10 Perfect Closing Songs In Rock History

9. Jungleland - Bruce Springsteen

In the incredible songbook of rock and roll, we've gotten to know a lot of different characters. We've gotten portraits of people like Eleanor Rigby from the Beatles, and even the bright eyed Johnny B. Goode from Chuck Berry, but one thing ends up connecting them all together. These are people on the fringes of society, and the Boss told their life story at the end of Born to Run.

Throughout the rest of this record, you get to see these misfits of the East Coast trying their hardest to get out of their nowhere town, from taking off on the highway in Thunder Road to the last chance power drive on the title track. On Jungleland though, this is where their will gets tested, with everyone's backs against the wall and the warriors flashing guitars like switchblades.

Then again, the real instrumental hero of this song is Mr. Clarence Clemons, who turns in one of the greatest saxophone solos in recorded history, giving you the sound of that melancholy that no one can truly put into words. The drama doesn't end there though, with our heroes left wounded and having no choice but to retreat to their lives back home. Still, this was a battle for the hearts of these people, and it's nice to know if they were going out, they were going to go down swinging.
