10 Perfect Glam Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
1. Electric Warrior - T Rex
In the early days of glam, people were never really sure how to categorize the music. As much as the look may have been the same from one band to another, you could never really nail down what kind of musical tropes that had to work with, ranging from pop hooks to garage rock sounding songs to even punk leaning music. Even with all the confusion, Electric Warrior is pure glam rock from skin to bone.
Beginning as a more folksy rock outfit, the psychedelic styles of T Rex's early work is nowhere to be seen on this record, being replaced with the signature polish that all good rock and roll thrives on. Going from one track to the next, these songs are practically a crash course in everything you need to know about glam rock, like going for the more pop flavored feel of Mambo Sun to eventually getting the down and dirty groove of Get It On and ending it with some punky thrash on Rip Off.
Up until this point, glam rock had already been a gimmick in the rock world but no one really knew how much staying power it was going to have past a few short years. After Electric Warrior, it was now a movement, and Marc Bolan was proud to fly the flag for the genre. The clubs may have had disco, but we could make the rock scene groove just as well.
