10 Perfect Glam Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

2. For Your Pleasure - Roxy Music

In the early days of glam rock, Roxy Music seemed to exist outside of genre. There may have been some ideas cribbed from the David Bowies of the world, but their signature style of art rock was almost too weird for the masses to take in in the early days. When Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno found their groove on For Your Pleasure, they turned into Art Rock's stylish cousin.

From the opening notes of something like Do the Strand, you can tell that these guys are indebted to the more stylish sounds of the time, with the synthesizer driving things forward at every turn. Rather than just finding a groove and sticking to it though, you can hear Roxy starting to pull at their sound like taffy on this album, with every other song having a much more foreboding feel like In Every Dream Home a Heartache.

This is also one of the few albums that feels like a pure extension of the vinyl era of music, with the back half of the record being comprised of weird avant garde takes on rock and roll that hinted at where Eno was going to be going a few years down the line as a producer. While these good times weren't meant to last that long, Roxy Music threw caution to the wind and made the kind of album that feels both dated and timeless at the exact same time.
