10 Perfect Glam Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

9. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

When talking about glam rock, it's hard to really differentiate the glam rock artists against the people who should just belong in the pop charts. Although people like Gary Glitter may have certainly looked the part, he never really had the same kind of bite that you'd find on a glam rock album. If you have a double album's worth of material though, you sometimes find yourself getting into rockier territory whether you know it or not.

While Elton John was every bit the star that his biopic would have implied back in the '70s, it never touched on just how classic the songs on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road really are. Being in the same vein as classic double records like the Stones' Exile on Main Street, this is everything that made Elton so endearing to begin with, as chipper pop tunes like Bennie and the Jets are balanced by some of the harder hitting songs like Grey Seal.

With just a piano to work with, Elton already had enough rock and roll swagger for any other artists' entire career, and he pushed it to the limit on every song here, like the almost punk sounding frenzy of Saturday Night's Alright before bringing it to a calm close on songs like Roy Rogers or Harmony. The pop songs are what get people hooked in the first place, but it takes the real deep cuts to make them stay.
