10 Perfect Glam Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

8. The Best Of - Slade

Okay, so it might seem a bit cheeky to put something like a greatest hits album on a list like this. Of course there wouldn't be any bad songs on here because the artist in question only put their most successful work. If you're looking for something that boils down the essence of what glam rock can be though, it's all there in Slade's best of collection.

Aside from the other progenitors of glam rock like Sweet, Slade actually had some real punch behind a lot of their songs, with tracks like Cum On Feel the Noize having an almost punkish edge to what they're doing. As much as the glam scene may have seemed like style over substance, Slade were one of the few bands that felt like rock and roll with just a hint of glamour added into the mix, if their cover of Steppenwolf's Born to Be Wild is any indication.

Out of all the bands to have dominated the charts around this time though, Slade has been one of the few glam bands that have earned some rock respect across the board. Aside from their massive hits, you also had them being covered by people like Quiet Riot in the '80s and even having punk bands like The Replacements taking stabs at their songs on various B-sides. You don't get that way without having some legitimate chops in your arsenal, and Slade definitely had a little bit of magic laced in between those party songs.
