10 Perfect Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
2. Meteora - Linkin Park
Going back to the nu metal glory days tends to be a bit of a mixed bag in retrospect. For every act like Deftones that managed to age like a fine wine, there's going to be people like Staind that just remind you of why you grew out of the whiny white boy phase of your musical development. Even though Linkin Park's material on Hybrid Theory aged pretty well, Meteora still feels like it hasn't aged at all almost 20 years later.
Recorded while on tour to promote Hybrid Theory, you could have sworn that the band had grown up by 10 years in this stretch of time. While there are still the trademark sounds of Linkin Park on here, everything is so much more well refined on this outing. Just the opening singles like Faint and Somewhere I Belong were enough to let you know that these guys were not going to fall victim to the sophomore slump or anything.
Going through the album itself, the entire track list flows incredibly well too, transitioning at just the right moments and making for amazing deep cuts like Easier to Run and Lying From You. Whereas most nu metal albums remind you of a time you could forget, this is the kind of raw anger that captures what it's like to be young and misunderstood correctly.
