10 Perfect Metal Albums With ZERO Bad Songs
6. Reign In Blood - Slayer
For any young metalhead looking for something a little more aggressive, thrash metal was the answer to your prayers. After having to deal with the likes of Motley Crue on the radio, here was a genre that took all of the aggression of metal music and combined it with the intensity of hardcore punk. Though Metallica definitely had their place as kings of the scene, you weren't going to find anything as heavy as Reign in Blood out in the wild.
Compared to the usual shred fests that you'd get from acts like Megadeth or Anthrax, Slayer's third outing just felt like someone attached a speedbag to your brain and spent the next half hour pummeling against your head. That's not to say that it didn't feel amazing to listen to though, from Angel of Death's dissent into Hell to the anger seething through the song Necrophobic.
In fact, the only complaint that people would have with an album like this is that there wasn't enough of it. Standing at just under half an hour, the entire thing was one of the most condensed experiences to be found on a thrash release, with Raining Blood putting an exclamation point at the very end. That's back to the punk ethos, isn't it? When you have the goods, it's better to get in and get out and leave them aching for more.
