10 Perfect Rap Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
9. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park (2000)
Perhaps the greatest band ever to be shackled with the moniker of nu metal. Linkin Park, marked the start of a new decade with an album fusing elements of rap, metal, electronica, and scratch. And, it sounded nasty. This was an industrial take on nu metal, and people lapped it up. It was filled with hard edged sounds, explosive metal riffs, impassioned screaming and accomplished rap versus.
In the late '90s nu metal had slowly been gaining a following with acts like Kid Rock, Korn and Limp Bizkit. Linkin Park, weren't necessarily changing the game, but they had something unique about them. Musical allure aside, the themes of Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda's lyrics spoke to more then Fred Durst's self-aggrandising sentiments. Expressions of internal struggle, mental health and alienation all made their way into the lyrics.
Augmented by thick guitar chords, and fierce DJ samples, the lyrics packed a mean punch. One Step Closer, Crawling and In The End all explored notions, that any adolescent could relate to. This was emo music that combined the flow of rap and the aggression of metal.
