10 Perfect Rock Albums For Pop Music Fans

9. London Calling - The Clash

We're on a bit of rougher territory when you try to get someone into punk rock though. If your traditional rock and roll was too much for someone, imagine what would happen if you exposed them to someone like the Sex Pistols? Punk isn't all about the destruction and decay of humanity though. The real punks had something to say, and the Clash were going to use every single genre to do it.

Compared to the original punk class of '77, the Clash were never snobs about where they were getting their musical influences from, and London Calling is probably their most eclectic outside of their mammoth undertaking Sandinista. While that one is a bit of a long sit for any potential fans, this double album goes by like its nothing, bringing together mixes of punk bombast like on the title track with genres like reggae on songs like Wrong Em Boyo.

There are even a few nods to the old school sounds of rock and roll, with Joe Strummer getting his rock star affectations down to a tee on Brand New Cadillac. Strummer's not alone here, and the Mick Jones songs are where the pop fans will fall in love first, especially with the earworm quality of a song like Train in Vain. It might not be your traditional hard edged punk album, but pulling from this many influences and not caring what people think is what punk rock is all about.
