10 Perfect Rock Albums For Summer 2022

1. Oasis: Definitely Maybe (1994)

This entry is far more likely to resonate with British readers. The term "lad-rock" best describes the kind of rock music that goes down well in British beer gardens during the summer. It's the kind of music that's synonymous with pint-sloshing, football chants and burnt scalps - but these aren't necessarily prerequisites for enjoying it, "It's just rock 'n' roll" after all.

It was a close toss up between Blur and Oasis for the final entry on this list... , but the prep school boys responsible for Parklife, didn't quite capture the same kind of 'middle-finger-to-the-world' freedom as the Gallagher brothers.

As a responce to the angsty and overly downbeat tone of the American grunge scene, Britpop emerged as a distinctly more carefree and joyous movement. Leaning on the sounds of the '60s, Oasis weren't far off from triggering a third Summer of Love. Like Britpop emerging from the gloom of grunge, summer is slowly emerging from the gloom of winter, and what better way to celebrate, then with one of the greatest British debuts of all time. Stick this on and go pour a gin and tonic.
