10 Perfect Rock Albums Ruined By One Bad Song

3. Interlude Tracks - Linkin Park

There's a lot that goes into the sequence of an album than just having a bunch of songs by your favorite artists. Unlike the usual streamlined process, the best albums manage to meticulously craft the perfect order for songs so that the entire album holds together and feels like hearing a story with sound. That being said, there's a right way and a wrong way to build atmosphere, and Linkin Park definitely toed the line with A Thousand Suns.

Outside of the interlude tracks, this is up there with some of the best Linkin Park albums, with songs like Wretches and Kings and Waiting for the End being among the greatest that they've ever written. At the same time, you also have songs that go absolutely nowhere, from the one-two punch of The Requiem and The Radiance that kick off the album with ambient noise to Jornada Del Muerto just wasting time before Waiting for the End actually kicks in.

There are still some great moments to be found in these atmospheric tracks, but there's absolutely no one who's going to say that a song like Empty Spaces is their favorite Linkin Park song. If you had taken a good half of these interludes off the final album, we could have been looking at Linkin Park's true magnum opus.
