10 Perfect Rock Albums That Critics Got Wrong
1. Everything - Led Zeppelin
Ever since they started, there always seemed to be a sort of allure when it came to Led Zeppelin. With virtually no interviews to speak of and only being seen when they took to the stage, there was a certain mystique that made it impossible for you to take your eyes off of them. What we saw as enigmatic and eerie though most critics saw as the height of pretentiousness.
After making albums that would end up defining what hard rock would become, most journalists didn't have the time of day for people like Zeppelin, a band that they thought were just milking the American blues musicians for all they were worth. While Zeppelin definitely did take a few cues from the Muddy Waters of the world, you'd never see someone like BB King write something like Immigrant Song or Stairway to Heaven any time soon.
And once they ended up getting some real traction, Zeppelin ended up playing into the critics' hatred for them, even leaving their fourth record completely untitled with the mentality of pissing off the snooty critics who had to write about them. Now that they've had over 4 generations of kids learning their licks, Zeppelin really have had the last laugh on their haters. You don't get to become one of the defining acts in all of rock music without at least doing something right.
