10 Perfect Rock Albums That Critics Got Wrong

2. A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles

Over the years, The Beatles have developed the undeserved reputation of being the first boy band in rock and roll. Although they may have excited female fans in the same way that groups like The Backstreet Boys did years later, they earned their road stripes and were definitely a band that could be taken seriously as songwriters rather than just a run of the mill pop band. And the cruellest jab they took ended up coming from the show that made them famous.

For most fans in the '60s, The Beatles were first introduced to the world on the Ed Sullivan Show, which went on to become one of the most iconic performances of the decade. As The Beatles were just coming off stage, legend has it that one of the producers of the show was asked what he thought of them, to which he replied that he'd give them a year in the spotlight before they trailed off.

Yeah, and now with 10 years of recorded output, various books made about them, and an entire Disney+ documentary chronicling their final days, it's safe to say that they've lasted a little bit more than a year. It just goes to show you that if you try to guess the trends a little too quickly, you're going to end up eating your words more than a few times.
