10 Perfect Rock Albums That Everyone Hated Making

1. The Beatles - The Beatles

For the first time since their inception, the Beatles didn't really seem to be on stable ground at the tail end of the '60s. Though they had made another career defining record with Sgt. Peppers, the sudden death of their manager Brian Epstein led to the whole band getting a lot more desensitized to the business side of their work. They may have tried to find themselves through spiritual meditation, but their journey for enlightenment led to every one of them growing apart on the White Album.

Coming back from India with a wealth of songs, everyone had their own unique ideas of where the songs should go, almost using their fellow bandmates as session musicians during the recording of songs. Although fans make a big deal out of Yoko Ono coming to the sessions, that was the least of their problems, with John Lennon and Paul McCartney becoming more and more at odds with each other, to the point of having two separate studios open at the same time to create their own songs.

The whole experience got so bad that Ringo Starr eventually took a hiatus from the group, thinking that he wasn't playing well for the songs and wanting to get away from all of the drama. This record may have some of the greatest songs that the band would ever record, but you can also definitely feel the creative tension if you sit with this record for the long haul.
