10 Perfect Rock Bands With Two Lead Singers
4. The Eagles
Most of the bands coming up in the sunny side of California in the '70s were brought up on the style of harmony singing. As much as people like Queen were making waves in the U.K., the era of Crosby, Stills, and Nash prided themselves on acts that could really hone their vocals and make for something a lot bigger than your average folk song. When you're that good behind the mic though, bands like Eagles managed to go beyond just the folk scene altogether.
On the first album, you can tell that Glenn Frey was really steering the ship in terms of vocals, having a much more pleasant vocal style than anything else. When you listen to a song like Peaceful Easy Feeling or Tequila Sunrise, this is exactly the kind of voice that the '70s rock scene was made for, being much more clean but not afraid to get dirty every now and again.
What no one realized at the time though was Golden Throat sitting behind the drum kit. As time went on in the Eagles, Don Henley clearly stepped in to become the real lead singer of the group, having a piercing range and a soaring voice that pretty much lived up to the band name in every single aspect. While Joe Walsh and Randy Meisner did have their moments to shine respectively, every piece of the Eagles' legacy can be traced back to the vocal prowess of Henley and Frey.
