10 Perfect Rock Bands With Two Lead Singers
2. Pink Floyd
Nobody stepping into a Pink Floyd record is necessarily going into the fray looking for some show stopping vocal performance. These guys were a prog rock band in the truest sense of the word, and most of these songs were constructed on making the most out of what you could on your instrument. That's not to say that Roger Waters and David Gilmour didn't have some amazing vocal chemistry between them.
Which is strange because after all these years, Gilmour doesn't consider himself to be that much of a singer, choosing to focus more on the instrumental side of the conversation. When you listen to the songs that he's singing like Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb, his soaring voice gives us a rest from the other sides of the music, almost like a musical pillow that you can ease your mind with while listening.
Whereas Gilmour is the suitable singer though, Waters's vocals really are the heart and soul of the band, bringing a lot more drama into the conversation and setting up a scene in your mind that's about a lot more than just the music that you're hearing through your headphones. Although it's a shame that Syd Barrett never got to see the classic incarnation of Pink Floyd through to the end, having these two vocalists bouncing off each other was the best setup we could have asked for.
