10 Perfect Rock Debut Albums Of The 2000s

2. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park

When Linkin Park first started to lay tracks down for Hybrid Theory, it already looked like they had the odds stacked against them. Even though rap rock still had a firm grasp on the rock scene at the time, the sound of their nu metal electronic sound seemed like it was going to be too derivative at the time. So that means it naturally turned into the absolute peak of the nu metal movement.

Erupting from the very first track, Hybrid Theory is practically everything that the nu metal movement thrived on, from the detuned guitars to the introspective lyrics about pain and suffering. The beauty came in the balance though, with Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda trading verses and giving you the best of both worlds with an emcee and a real belter at the same time.

The unsung hero of the whole thing though has to be Joe Hahn, whose turntable skills gave an added texture to the music that felt a lot more moody than your average angry metal band. And it's still going to this day. Even though bands like Korn and Deftones still hold their own, there are still millions of record labels that are trying to find the new Linkin Park. Then again, you can never copy perfection, especially when its done this consistently.
