10 Perfect Rock Frontmen Of The 90s

1. Kurt Cobain - Nirvana

No one really dreams of being a rock star because they want to speak to people. More often than not, the people who think of starting up a band and dreaming of stardom are under the impression that a life of fame and fortune isn't really in the cards for them. When you have enough heart behind your music though, you go from a good songwriter to the voice of a generation without even trying.

As much as Kurt Cobain may have shunned the spotlight time and time again, that didn't mean he wasn't a great frontman whenever he took to the stage. Though you could see his sarcasm in interviews like wearing a dress to Headbanger's Ball, he was always ready to throw down every time he played his music, almost like he was in an ongoing battle with his own celebrity whenever he was up there.

That didn't mean that he only had the angry persona to him either, as evidenced by the band's appearance on MTV Unplugged, where you see him go from being soft and delicate to shrieking his lungs out over the course of just an hour's worth of music. While Kurt may not have wanted to be the spokesman for grunge, the power behind his songs really managed to hit a nerve with every single kid looking for something different. You always need people like this to disrupt the system every now and again, but Kurt managed to hit the zeitgeist right on its wound.
