10 Perfect Rock Music Songs That Were Inspired By The Beatles
5. You See Me Crying - Aerosmith
And here we are... someone else calling out Aerosmith for being rip-offs of someone. Then again, when we're talking about Aerosmith being a little less original with their ideas, more often than not people compare them more to the Rolling Stones than to anything the Fab Four ever did. Right at the end of Toys in the Attic though, Steven Tyler had a song buried inside him that seems to come right out of the Beatles' classic period.
While the rest of Toys is nothing but bluesy hard rock all the way through, You See Me Crying is a straight up piano ballad, as Steven wears his heart on his sleeve as he talks about going through some of the rough patches in his relationship. Having already got Dream On under his belt, there's a bit more polish on this song, but there's also a few common threads connected to the Beatles' traditional ballad style, down to using soaring strings to bring everything home towards the end of the track.
While the actual strings might not be the same kind of biting sound you might get out of something like Eleanor Rigby, you can definitely hear the rising drama from the back half of Abbey Road, as Steven tries to close out his own album with the same kind of emotional weight that you get from a song like Carry That Weight bleeding into the End. The Beatles were always the British version of rock and roll perfection though, and it was about time that Steven Tyler served up something that could contend with the Hey Judes of the world.
