10 Perfect Rock Songs On Terrible Albums

8. Don't Go Away - Oasis

After the grunge wave came and went, it looked like Oasis were going to be the next musical gods that we were going to follow to the ends of the Earth. Although they were as much a danger to themselves as anyone else, that didn't stop both Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory from blowing our minds twice over. Then the Gallaghers got an idea, and turned in a weapons grade level trainwreck on Be Here Now.

Everything that has been said about this record in hindsight seems to hold up fairly well, namely that the songs are way too long and the lyrics need to be improved on quite a bit. Along with sitting through the 9 minutes of All Around the World, there is a little bit of a break with Don't Go Away, which is so sentimental it could have passed for a hair metal ballad if it were released in the '80s.

In the case of this album, that's not a bad thing at all, with Liam actually showing some sort of emotional vulnerability and the production actually being stripped back a bit so you're not being struck with one guitar solo after another. Even though most of Be Here Now is an exercise in self indulgence for the Gallaghers, this is the moment where you see the classic band that's hidden in there.
