10 Perfect Rock Songs On Terrible Albums

I can already see the monocles breaking from the inclusion of a Nickelback album on a list of terrible rock albums. I mean, any rock fan with a good stereo system and a general sense of hearing will be able to tell you that there is far better rock out there than these post grunge dudes. And on the same album that gave us the travesty that is Photograph, Nickelback ended up churning out...a surprisingly decent song?

Yeah, I'm just as shocked as you all are. Not that Far Away is a knock down drag out classic or anything. For any other band, this ballad would get laughed out the door, but this shows Nickelback actually dipping their toes just a little bit into different territory. With the weird falsetto of Chad Kroeger and the stripped back approach, this feels more like it should be a bro country song than an actual rock ballad.

And taken through that lens, country actually works shockingly well on these guys, making for a song that has some genuine emotion behind it and Chad not sounding like he's on the verge of defecating his pants every time he sings a word. Since bro country wouldn't end up clogging the charts for another decade or so, you could potentially make the unholy claim that Nickelback were actually ahead of their time in some respects.
