10 Perfect Rock Songs That Were INSANELY Controversial

6. Cop Killer - Body Count

We've all heard of the phrase one hit wonder to describe bands that flame out a little too quickly. Ever since their first hit, these are the acts that weren't in it for the long haul and are just going to continue to ride the rest of their career off of the royalties that they already have. As Ice T got his rock stripes though, he went for some of the most controversial topics that anyone would have touched at the time.

On Body Count's first record, people were calling attention to Cop Killer, which sent suburban parents into shock when they saw it appear on the track listing. From the minute that they heard this music, Ice T was now known as some boogie man who was trying to spread all out anarchy by taking away the police department and taking names of anyone who disagreed. It might seem a bit strong, but just remember where we were in history at this time.

This was just coming off of the Rodney King trial at the time, with Ice T getting more and more enraged that these officers were not going to get the sentencing that they deserved for it. With a few years removed from F*** the Police by N.W.A, this was just a plea to some sort of fair trial and not letting these guys off the hook just for the badge they wear. Although it is kind of hilarious that Ice went from this to starring on Law and Order SVU as a cop, in each of these scenarios, it's about more than just the scary title. It's about having justice win out in the end.
