10 Perfect Rock Songs That Were Never Released As Singles

6. A Place for My Head - Linkin Park

So...how do you really chalk up anything on Hybrid Theory as being overlooked? Ever since this album came out, the Diamond certification and the classic singles like Crawling and In the End have become synonymous with angst at this point, distilling every emotion into one neat package. When you look deeper into the record though, the pop side of Linkin Park got a lot more aggro on Place For My Head.

This is still a nu metal album though, and the rap rock fusion is still here with Mike Shinoda's verses, as Chester Bennington brings in the melodic side in the chorus. The riff is also a bit off kilter as well, playing with a scale that feels a lot more exotic than what the rest of the nu metal crowd was doing at the time. None of that matters though once we get to the actual breakdown of the song though.

As the rest of the band come to a complete stop, you hear Chester slowly building up with his vocal delivery before absolutely exploding, sounding like he's about to pop a blood vessel with how much anger is pouring out of him. While nothing in this song could be called stable by any means, the raw foundation of the music here is some of the strongest that nu metal would ever be after the turn of the century.
