10 Pop-Princesses Who Actually Had Something Worthwhile To Say

6. Beyoncé

Over the last few years, Beyoncé has really made her mark as an independent woman through her music and alter ego, Sasha Fierce. Her hit single Irreplaceable was a statement of female empowerment, an issue that Beyoncé feels strongly about and is a common theme in many more of her songs, including Single Ladies and Run The World. Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) was reportedly written as a response to the generalisation that men are unwilling to commit to women; an issue which Beyoncé felt was evident in her relationship with now husband Jay-Z. In an interview about the song, the singer stated that she wrote the song because she felt passionate about the issue which many women experience every day. More recently, Beyoncé penned the song Run the World which has since become somewhat of a feminist anthem due to its girl-power lyrics, claiming her the title of Queen of Pop.
