10 Pop-Princesses Who Actually Had Something Worthwhile To Say

5. Adele

Skyfall singer Adele is known for her astounding voice, heartfelt lyrics and overwhelming stage presence, but as it turns out she also has some interesting views on body image. When Adele first entered the charts in 2008 with her hugely successful tune Chasing Pavements, it didn't take long for stars and critics to start making snide comments about Adele's weight. During the success of Adele's second album 21, comedienne Joan Rivers decided to take a stab at the star, saying she should have named her song, "Rolling in the Deep Fried Chicken," and then added that "she's a very chubby lady who's very, very rich and she should just calm down, or lose weight." But in typical Adele style, the star has brushed off the remarks without so much as a second thought for the disparaging comments. In a recent interview, the star stated that she would only consider losing weight if it affected her health, adding that although in the past she has had insecurities about her weight she has never surrounded herself with people who point her flaws out to her. In a time when it seems like everyone is obsessed with looking more like a stick than a healthy human being it looks as though the public is very much divided when it comes to Adele's weight, but with two of the most successful recent albums behind her and one of the most distinct and powerful voices around, it doesn't seem like Adele will be spending too much time crying over such comments.
