7. Pat Metheny

The leader of the Pat Metheny Group, Metheny is renowned as one of the world's top jazz guitarists. He also holds the distinction of winning a Grammy in 10 different categories, among his 20 Grammy Awards. Metheny also holds an honorary Doctorate of Music from the Berklee College of Music, in addition to receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from JazzFM.

Born close to Kansas City in Lee's Summit, Missouri, Metheny began gigging locally as a teenager. While playing at a club in Kansas City, Metheny was approached by a dean at the University of Miami named Bill Lee who offered him a college scholarship. As a Missouri Music Hall Of Fame inductee and the recording artist behind the Beyond The Missouri Sky album, Metheny continues to fly the Missouri flag high in a variety of ways.
