10 Popular Songs That Are Actually Terrible

Another in the 'become instantly successful with the very first thing you do' category, Canada's MAGIC! achieved international success with their reggae fusion debut single. The song tells us the story of an unhealthy relationship, strongly based on a real-life situation of lead singer Nasri Atweh, which is a bit of a juxtaposition against the laid back composition.

To be fair to the song, there's only two faults I can pick with everything: Number one: The band insist in stylising their band name as "MAGIC!", all caps with an exclamation in the middle of sentences makes English teachers the world over shed a tear. It ranks up there with 3OH!3, Attack Attack!, letlive., and my personal favourite, Czech post-black metal band ██████ (it's pronounced "nic", duh).

Number two: The lyrical content. It starts off well with Atweh announcing his intentions to ask for his girlfriend's father's blessing to marry her. A lovely sentiment I'm sure you'll agree, however after he is quite politely yet firmly rejected by the father, Atweh chooses to ignore him and say he's gonna marry the girl in spite of the father. That is not the way to go fella. The rest of the song just dictates how Atweh thinks the father is rude for not letting his daughter marry an overly clingy man child. Go figure.

So yeah just the two small faults.
