10 Positive Songs We Could All Use Right Now
The best sonic medicine.
As of late, the world has been in pretty dire straits. From the various protests going around to the ongoing global health crisis, many people are finding it very tense to deal with their everyday lives. Even if things seem a bit bleak now, music will always be there to get us through the tough times.
Regardless of today's situations, music has always been known as the healer for many people to get them through trying circumstances. Whether it's rock, pop, or even metal, anyone can put on their headphones and have all of their problems melted away.
Though it's simple enough to just throw together a list of songs that talk about happiness and sunshine, the best kind of songs for these times are the ones that acknowledge the bad along with the good.
It's easy to just tell someone that it's going to be alright, but it's a lot more poignant to admit that even though things may be bad, we're going to get through it all the same. Yeah, the world may look a lot different than it did a few months ago, but if you just slip on your headphones, everything will seem just a little bit brighter.
10. Don't Stop - Fleetwood Mac
There has been a lot of documentaries about how hard it was for Fleetwood Mac to make Rumours. With the band members going through personal breakups with other band members, they poured all of their pent-up aggression into their songs, which became rock radio staples. Though not all of them were chipper, "Don't Stop" was a bit of light shining through the inner turmoil.
The writing of Christine McVie is so bouncy and energetic that you can't help but nod along with every single beat. Given that the song was about her separation from bass player John McVie, you'd think that this would be a spite-filled roast, but the real message of the song is to forget the awful things that happened in the past to build a more promising future.
This song seems to be saying that while the dark days may have happened, they are long gone and better days are lying just around the corner. There's no use in dwelling in the past as long as you make sure that you look at the positive in every action you make. In a questionable time that doesn't have a clear end, we must make it a point to never stop thinking about tomorrow.
