10 Positive Songs We Could All Use Right Now
8. Trainwrecks - Weezer
Weezer have always been known as the most interesting nerd rock band of the '90s. With songs about dopey love and jamming with your friends, you didn't necessarily have to think too much in order to bop along to these guys' riffs. However, from time to time, the band could reach deep inside themselves and pull out a song that makes you want to conquer the world.
At first glance, "Trainwrecks" almost sounds like a down-and-out song, with most of the verses talking about just how much our main character screws up. He's having trouble in their relationship, trashed his car, and is even flat broke on top of it all. So, where does the positivity come in?
Well, while things may not seem to be that great at this stage, the comfort comes in the friends our hero has around him. Though they both may not be the best at paying their rent or expressing themselves, they can at least find solace in going through it together. The story behind the song is pretty dour, but the tone is decidedly determined, almost as if the singer is deadset on overcoming his problems and making something better of himself down the road. In just one track, Weezer took their nervy brand of pop punk and packed it with as much dramatic heft as Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run."
