Green Day are built on the back of a ferocious live reputation, something which has stuck by them for most of their careers. From the anarchic mud-slinging performance at Woodstock '94 to globe-spanning arena tours, the boys know how to rock a venue - large or small. For those of us lucky enough to have seen Green Day live, it raises the expectations of subsequent gigs to unrealistic levels. That's not to say there aren't other great live bands. There'll inevitably be acts with just as good or (whisper it) even better shows than Green Day, but nobody else has THOSE songs to draw upon. Their ability to bombard the audience with mammoth hits and beloved album cuts - and perform them incredibly well - makes for live shows which befit the massive stature of the band.
