4. Elvis Presley – ‘My Happiness’ - $300,000

Elvis My Happiness
Sun Records

The record is monumental because it gives fans a glimpse at Elvis’ talent at the earliest stage of his career. It’s a one-of-its-kind record.

‘My Happiness’ is the first song Elvis ever recorded, back in 1953 at Sun Records. Presley’s friend Ed Leek claimed to have given the singer $4 to fund the session. Elvis left Sun with the record in tow and took it to Ed’s place to listen to as Elvis’ family amazingly didn’t own a record player at the time. Presley left the record at Ed’s, never collecting it.

Ed kept it in a safe for six decades. After he passed, his niece inherited it and contacted Graceland, the museum and tourist attraction that was Elvis’ home, to auction it off. It sold for an astounding $300,000 on what would have been Elvis’ 80th birthday.

It seems anything Elvis touched in his lifetime has value to it. At the same auction, scarves worn by Presley at concerts, gold necklaces with the initials TCB (short for his slogan ‘Taking Care of Business’), prescription sunglasses, his first driver's license, a custom designed watch and the jacket he wore in the Viva Las Vegas film were all for sale too.
