10 Rock Album Covers That Led To Massive Lawsuits

1. Sonic Brew - Black Label Society

Most of the obvious cases of copyright on album covers normally comes down to trademarks. It's just like product placement in movies...if you show the thing in front of the camera, you better be giving proper financial credit to the company. Even when Black Label Society tried to touch things up though, the makers of some of the finest liquor were none too pleased with Sonic Brew.

Although it's up in the air whether they were fans of the music, the suits over at Johnnie Walker threatened Zakk Wylde and co. with a lawsuit because of their debut album looking a little too much like their signature branding method. Also you could imagine that the actual band name of Black Label Society probably didn't sit well with the liquor company that already had a signature black label for their spirits to begin with.

Since it's in the rearview now though, Zakk Wylde has no problem with exaggerating how messed up the whole thing became, going on a lengthy interview with Loudwire about how the suits over there thought they were scumbags and didn't want the heathens of BLS to interfere with their reputable brewing company. Then again, if the patrons who indulge in some Black Label every now and again heard the music of Zakk Wylde, they'd probably be proud to have it as the soundtrack to their boozing.
