10 Rock Album Covers That Led To Massive Lawsuits
2. Nevermind - Nirvana
And now we come to our most recent example. Out of all of the fine album covers that have graced this list, Nirvana's Nevermind still holds up as iconic imagery of rock today, showing the innocence of a baby as it's being strung along by a floating dollar bill. Or at least, that's what the interpretation should be if it weren't for what's been going around.
Just this past week, the baby model on the cover is now suing the Nirvana estate for what he claims to be damages to his reputation and the use of child pornography to promote their material. If you know anything about the reasoning behind this photo, you know that this is the furthest thing from the truth.
Although you can easily just edit out the more offensive imagery of the photo, the whole meaning that Kurt Cobain used to defend this was to be a mockup of the uptight moms and dads of the world, even calling the people who had a problem with the images to be a closet pedophile. While that might be going a bit too overboard in the opposite direction, it looks like this kind of disaffected music will still not have peace over 30 years after its release.
