10 Rock Album Covers That Led To Massive Lawsuits
9. No Love Deep Webb - Death Grips
Whenever you have the lawyers come into the fray on album art, people tend to get money hungry real fast. Even if someone doesn't even recognize the band that used their picture, you can bet that they're going to want a piece of all the money the album makes since they are the one on it. So what happens if you manage to piss off the people who were already money hungry to begin with?
Granted, there are only certain sections of the Internet where you can actually display the original version of Death Grips' No Love Deep Webb, which shows a particular part of the male anatomy jutting out of the bottom left section of the frame. As much as that could have been worthy of a lawsuit, Death Grips actually got the call from their label when the record first blew up.
After the critical acclaim of the Money Store proved to be fairly lucrative, Death Grips decided to keep their creative streak rolling and released this whole thing without consulting their label at all, which made for a promotional nightmare when they actually tried to throw together a press release. There's been a long history of career sabotage over the years, but Death Grips have pretty much written the rulebook of how to get kicked off your label at this point.
