10 Rock Albums That Are Way Too Bloated

8. Stadium Arcadium - Red Hot Chili Peppers

There's no one who would ever complain that any album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is too short by any stretch. Ever since John Frusciante joined the band, their albums started to get way too blown out of proportion, with Californication and Blood Sugar Sex Magik going well over an hour across their respective runtimes. It's fine as long as the riffs keep coming, but a double album of that much material is a bit much for your audience to hear in one sitting.

Then again, Stadium Arcadium might still be a contender for one of the best records that the band ever made. Across both discs, you have some of their greatest singles like Dani California and Tell Me Baby along with some deep cuts that are worth checking out like Death of a Martian or Slow Cheetah. There's more than enough decent material here for an amazing project...the only problem is the fact that it's over 2 hours long.

While the initial idea was to pump all of these songs out as part of a three record suite, their decision to keep things to a double disc made for too much at once, making the record feel like it's dragging even when you're working your way through some of the better tracks. There's well over an album's worth of amazing tracks on here, but a double album that eclipses feature length films across its runtime is going to need to be golden from back to front to keep fans coming back to listen to again and again.
