10 Rock Albums That Artists Regret Making
7. One By One - Foo Fighters
From day one, nothing has really come easy for the Foo Fighters. Even the conception of the band back in the mid '90s was nearly a miracle, with Dave Grohl creating the entire blueprint for the band on a whim to get over the death of Kurt Cobain. Once you reach the big time though, things might start to unravel just a little bit.
After the care-free joy that came with There is Nothing Left to Lose, the band found themselves helpless when Taylor Hawkins nearly died of a drug overdose midway through the tour. Looking to blow off steam before making the next record, Grohl decided to play in Queens of the Stone Age for a while, which left the rest of the band feeling left in the dust. When Grohl finally re-entered the fold, things erupted just before going into recording.
Picking up the pieces for One by One, Grohl still has some harsh feelings associated with the songs on this record, as they remind him of the rough time it took to get there. While tracks like All My Life and Times Like These remain concert staples to this day, Grohl has said that the rest of the record almost feels half-conceived, possibly because the guys were at odds during the recording. Despite the Foos' music being relatively fun to listen to, this is still one of the most painful records they had ever made.
