10 Rock Albums That Artists Regret Making
3. Pinkerton - Weezer
After the massive success of Weezer's blue-colored debut, they were in a bit of an awkward position. Despite having more attention than any potential rock star could have hoped for, Rivers Cuomo never really anticipated his band taking off that quickly. Though he managed to work through the pain on Pinkerton, Cuomo has done nothing but bad mouth his open-hearted sophomore album for years now.
While it may have been torn to shreds in its time, Pinkerton has held up as one of the crown jewels in Weezer's discography, going so far as to be in competition with their debut as one of their best. Then again, it's not hard to see why Cuomo might have some problems with it. Across every single one of these tracks, the songs range from noisy in places to being way too personal than Cuomo probably wanted to, from the teenage fan love letter in Across the Sea to the therapeutic refusal to talk to girls on El Scorcho.
Even though most fans appreciate his honesty on this record today, Cuomo has likened this record to puking your guts out at a party and realizing how embarrassing it was after the fact. Pinkerton might not be a perfect record from cover to cover, but there's probably never been a rock record that has been bad mouthed so much and doesn't deserve it.
