10 Rock Albums That Get Way Too Much Hate
1. Let It Be - The Beatles
So... the Beatles are one of the few artists that the rock world has seen as untouchable throughout history. From the minute that they touched down on US soil and wowed on the Ed Sullivan Show, you can't really pinpoint a bad or even disappointing release that the band have put out, with every fan eating up every song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. As the Beatles started to fracture though, Let It Be is the one album that seems more hated by the members of the band than anything else.
And that's because this album wasn't really supposed to come out...or at least not this version of it. When the Fabs were looking through their tapes, they figured they'd put this on the shelf and make Abbey Road as their final creative partnership together. Their label demanded another album though, and Let It Be came out of the sessions for what was originally going to be called Get Back, with legendary producer Phil Spector brought in to produce the rest of it.
This makes the whole album sound really different than the rest of the Beatles' catalog, with Paul McCartney loathing some of the changes that Phil made and demanded that they be restored to the way they were. Even when they reached a compromise, Paul still wasn't happy with it and released Let It Be...Naked years later as a way of presenting to the fans the album that Let It Be was always supposed to be. Considering this stands as the last thing the Beatles ever recorded, we should consider ourselves lucky that even the table scraps of their sessions sound this amazing.
