10 Rock Albums That Get Way Too Much Hate
2. Be Here Now - Oasis
There are very few albums in rock history that have had the rollercoast reception of Be Here Now by Oasis. Ever since day one, this album went from being the best thing that Oasis have ever done to one of the worst records that the '90s have ever spat out, with even Noel Gallagher not defending it anymore. When you use an album like this as a punching bag for that long, you start to forget the bright spots that are on here as well.
Granted, it's not hard to see why the complaints came rolling in, with the songs being way too long for their own good and the production being the definition of excess. In between some of the lackluster writing though, you do have some genuinely great Oasis tunes, like Liam turning in one of his best vocal performances on Don't Go Away or when they address their rock star misbehavior on a song like My Big Mouth.
And while it's definitely got all of the bad parts of the album in it, D'You Know What I Mean really sets us off right for the record, letting you know exactly what the Gallaghers are going to be getting into on this album. When you look at it without the anti-hype that it got, this is just another Oasis album, with it's fair share of bright spots and low lights to go around. With the Britpop revolution quickly fading behind them, this is probably the best kind of sendoff the genre could have asked for.
