10 Rock Albums That Haven't Aged Well At All

1. Hot Space - Queen

No member of Queen could ever claim to be a snob about the kind of music they played. The band was never afraid to get a little bit campy with what they did, and every single album that they put out in the '70s felt like them messing around and seeing how they could turn different genres into something they could call their own. We had now reached the '80s though, and Queen found themselves back on top again with the Game, for better and for worse.

Though the Game did notch up one of their biggest hits in Another One Bites the Dust, the draw of that one song led to the band getting more involved with dance music, which led to a bit of a mess going into Hot Space. Looking to strike while the iron was hot and notch up more radio singles like Dust, the first half of this album just feels hollow, as they try to write disco-tinged tracks with no real hooks behind them, from the wishy washy chorus of Staying Power to the attempt to come off as sexy which does not work at all on Body Language.

Unlike most other bands on this list though, Queen seemed to know that they had screwed things up on this project, because the back half of the album is still a typical Queen album, almost abandoning the dance side of their sound altogether and even getting one more hit out of the deal with the immortal collaboration with David Bowie Under Pressure. This section of the album did remind us of the heights that Queen could reach, but when you have to make us listen to something like Dancer just to get to it, the damage has already been done.
